The massive doors of the library stand 8 foot high at the peeks and are of three inch thick, solid wood construction. Iron bolts and hinges keep them hanging yet still operating smoothly. Four inch wide walnut trim surrounds the ceiling panels and beneath them is a solid plank sub-ceiling fastened to 4 x 12 joists. The walnut bookcases have adjustable shelves an expensive option for a turn of the century construction. All four sides of the room contain books shelves. Readers sit in comfort in the feather stuffed upholstered chairs and sofas.
