Having taken many on their Final Ride this hearse is now enjoying a life it never knew, in fact one that many hearses will never know. I named it FYNLRYD for vanity plate reasons, however in Pennsylvania there are no vanity Street Rod Plates, but why waste a good name!

FYNLRYD is a 1947 Pontiac Silver Streak with a body by Superior Coach Works.

I purchased FYNLRYD from DeHaven Enterprises of Virginia as a project car and most of the heavy modifications had already been completed.

The stub-frame from a 1967 Cadillac Deville had been welded in, drive train and the full exterior work had been completed, leaving mostly interior work left to do.

For power a modified 500 inch Caddy engine was chosen, coupled to a TH 400 transmission turning a .342 Caddy rear to roll the new 15 inch rubber. The combo gives a righteous 13 MPG which isn't bad at all for a 5000 pound plus slab of steel with driver. Try and match that with your tin and plastic SUV and have as much fun!

A nice touch was the coffin storage box the DeHavens had built and it is a beautiful piece of work too, as well as functional as a toolbox.

So what have I been doing since I acquired FYNLRYD?
Certainly not sitting on my butt as you can see by the 2009 pictures. Look at a few more.

1 the new digital dash, 2 walnut door panels and purple belts, 3 the four trophies

Since the FYNLRYD now resides in Oley, PA expect to see it at cruises and shows all over PA, and the surrounding states. Don't be surprised though if it shows up in Sherwood Oregon for their annual rod and customs bash.
